Gurer Sharbat / Indian Jaggery Cooler Drink
A cooling beverage made of
our very own jaggery is as different in taste and flavour as it sounds. A tall
glass of this cooling drink takes away all the miseries of summer and you will
feel instantly energized. The ginger powder gives it the required kick and the
black peppercorns make the taste slightly sizzling with its heat. Just a
perfect drink for this hot..hot...season!!
Gurer Sharbat / Indian
Jaggery Cooler Drink
Serves 2
Ingredients:
4 tbsp gur / jaggery
1 tsp crushed black
peppercorns
A pinch of Black salt
Salt – as per taste
A pinch of ginger powder
2 green cardamoms
2 glasses of chilled water
Method:
Dry roast the green
cardamoms on a tawa for less than a minute. Transfer them to a large bowl and let it
come to room temperature.
Peel off their skin and
get the seeds.
Put the seeds in a mortar
and pestle and grind them.
In a bowl add the jaggery
and a little water. Stir until the jaggery melts.
Add the rest of the water.
Add the salt, ginger
powder, a pinch green cardamom powder (add more if required), crushed black
peppercorns and black salt.
Taste and adjust the
seasonings.
Pour in tall glasses and
serve immediately.
