Chire Doi Aam ~ Bengali Style Flattened Rice with Yogurt and Ripe Mangoes
Chire doi ~ flattened rice
and yogurt is one of our staple breakfasts and with summer there arises another
addition to this fabulous pair, and that is mango. Ripe, juicy, sweet and
succulent mango pieces just add an oomph factor to this almost ordinary recipe.
Make this recipe with
chilled yogurt and mango pieces and mash some of the mangoes while mixing them.
Do not count your calories while adding sugar because the crunchy sugar
granules are an added texture.
Chire Doi Aam ~ Bengali
Style Flattened Rice with Yogurt and Ripe Mangoes
Serves 1
Ingredients:
½ cup of poha / chire /
flattened rice
2 tbsp white granulated
sugar
1 ripe mango – chilled
1 and ½ cup thick yogurt –
chilled
Method:
Peel and chop your mango
into small bite size pieces. Put the mangoes in a bowl and then pop it inside
the fridge, until you are ready to use.
Wash the chire / flattened
under gentle water for about 30 seconds. If it is overdone then poha / chire
will become mushy.
Take the washed poha in a
bowl and add in the yogurt and sugar.
If your mango is not sweet
enough you might have to add a little more sugar, because this dish is a sweet
dish.
Mix until well combined
and then add the chopped mangoes. You can mash some mangoes if you like.
Give another stir and
enjoy!!!!
